I’m a retired registered nurse. I worked 12 years in the emergency Department in Cook County, Illinois.I give your facility five stars. Firstly, Jason with patient services greeted me kindly and professionally. My Triage nurse was very efficient getting my labs done immediately.the tech who performed my EKG was also very pleasant. The labor and delivery nurses and staff at OSF Peru were absolutely excellent. The provided amazing care and attention to me and my baby and went above and beyond to help me with personal needs whenever they were able and were always friendly and positive during all of our interactions. Maddie, Heather, Julia, Dolly and Bree were part of the nursing staff I had the pleasure of interacting with during my stay. The 5 stars is for Jason at the ER front desk in Peru. Our past experiences with other employees in that position left us cold and frankly they seemed annoyed and angry. But Jason on Feb 22nd redeemed OSF, which I'm sure is not part of his job description. The company is not well liked in this area and a representative like him helps their image. All the plaques posted everywhere that say Compassion, Serving With Greatest Care and Love, Excellence, mean nothing until you actually see them personified.
I would like to know how a patient is transferred in for routine surgery from Ottawa Illinois and it's told from day one that she's old and she's had a good life we need to let her die absolutely 100% shoved morphine down the family left for 14 days with no feeding tube no water our family got to watch my grandma starve to death... With the reopening there has been a period of adjustment. They are finally getting through it. I appreciate the fact that we have a hospital in Peru. The other option is not good - driving 20 or more miles to get care?!? Thank you OSF for investing in our community!! God Bless You!
