Terrible service for years. We will finally switch next year. I'm sure I will regret not switching sooner. Name a mistake, they've made it. Okay, mistakes happen, but lately we get a new rep every few weeks, payroll is handled by a different person each period, and ZERO response or accountability if something is wrong. Terrible service. They never answer the phone, it’s been 7 weeks in 2025 where we had to pay employees cash because Paychex changes your client account person too much, and don’t take phone calls. Don’t use this service. We are changing our payroll, 401k, and workman’s comp to a different payroll service. I see where Paychex has left a reply to reviews, but never call people that complain. Don’t give us more email addresses to leave messages, you want reply to. Leave us a phone number, where a live person takes calls
No matter how hard you try, know that you will NEVER GET COMPETENT SUPPORT AT PAYCHEX. Supervisors will NOT interact with clients unless they have hundreds of employees, even upon repeated requests. The people doing the CHAT might as well not be there at all. THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO ANSWER EVEN THE MOST BASIC QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR OWN SITE OR CLIENT NEEDS. We are leaving Paychex for good! Going to try SurePayroll. NOTHING CAN BE AS BAD AS WHAT WE'VE HAD.
If I could provide a half star I would. Paychex systems and processes are the worst!! I’ve been owed a refund for months and have yet to receive it. I just want my money and move on with my life it should not be this difficult, but based upon other reviews this appears to be a reoccurring theme. Managers do not call back or keep their promises!!
Let me tell you about my awful and terrible experience allowing this sorry excuse for a payroll company experience. It was lie after lie and broken promises. Reaching out to my "personal representative" was never possible. I actually believe this person never existed. Take the advice myself and all the other unhappy reviewers here who have taken the time to warn people away from PayChex. Save yourself the trouble and frustration you surely will encounter and choose ANY other payroll provider.
