I met the CEO literally the moment I came to intake. I was a little surprised that she paid attention to everything I said. Well that’s her job, I thought, as I turned to the staff to check in. They treated me with respect and understanding all the way to the veterans unit. Once again, I thought, they were acting this way just to lock me in. I’ve been to the ParC three times; twice very recently. At the tail end of my last stay I had an absolute horrendous encounter with the CEO and another staff member. Both of their behaviors were disgusting, petty, dishonest, and totally contrary to ethical patient care. That said, I cannot totally bash the place. I attended the PaRC on two separate occasions, and I’ve got multiple friends that have been through the program at different times as well, so my thoughts are based on both personal experience and anecdotal evidence. The Memorial Hermann hospital system used to own this treatment center, and during that time, it had a great reputation in the recovery community. The PARC is a wonderful facility for recovery. They provide all of the tools needed for a successful and sober life, from medication to meditation and everything in between. I especially want to shout out Mrs. Jasmine, the alumni coordinator; she truly cares about the patients, is so kind, and is a very hard worker. I also want to recognize Mrs. Millicent, a counselor who both advocates for and cares about her patients. I highly recommend PARC to anyone who truly wants to stay sober.

I was an inpatient at PaRC in February 2022, and it truly changed the course of my life. The fellowship of the alumni and staff supported me during one of my darkest seasons and continues to be a source of strength today. Many of the people I met there have become my chosen family. Now, with over four years of sobriety, I return as a volunteer to give back and be of service as part of my recovery program. I will always be grateful for the community, hope, and support the PaRC has to offer.
