I found my experience at Rio retreat to be extremely powerful. I have worked in this field and a number of the educational concepts were known to me already. Nonetheless when I did the experiential work it was powerful and transformative. I’ve gone back and forth about writing this review, but I feel it’s important to share my experience with Survivors Week for anyone considering it. If your trauma is lighter or you’re just starting to explore healing, this program might feel supportive. But if you’re carrying significant trauma, I’d advise caution. Some of the advertised activities didn’t happen during my stay. Acupuncture was listed, but the acupuncturist was absent, and I later learned it only involves ear points when available. My experience at Rio was life-changing and empowering. I feel secure and ready to face parts of life that have always been challenging and overwhelming for me. The program is top-notch, and I will definitely be going back someday.

I hate to leave a poor review, as I haven’t even gone to a retreat here. But I was signed up for a retreat and had worked my whole summer around the week I would be spending there: working remote, flying my children to stay with grandparents so I had childcare, really trying my best to prioritize this program because I believed it was Important.
