Most disappointing 1st mammogram experience. Not expecting much, but to be treated with kindness & maybe some explanations of what is happening would be a huge start to turning around the feeling of being herded like another cow through with the rest of the cattle. Was diagnosed with dense breast tissue (totally normal) so they couldn't see anything by regular mammogram. Had to come back for an ultrasound and biopsy after initially visiting their mamo bus. The entire process was rushed and rough. Fast talking staff, rough doctor and painful mamo right after the biopsy. They all said and did things that made me think it was going to be cancer. Three days later got a call that I was "fine" and to resume my yearly as normal. Very expensive, stressful and painful. 14 days later I still have a black and blue boob. I will go to a different center for future care.
Showed up on time to my scheduled appointment and still had to wait 45 minutes to make it into a room and another 15 to see a doctor. The rooms are NOT sound proofed in any way so I could very clearly hear the conversation in the next room. They wanted me to take my top off and put a gown on, but the blinds to the exterior were see through so anyone walking by could see me. Had my first mammogram there. My doctor sent me for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. There was some confusion as to what was going on with my health, as my doctor didn't give super precise, clear orders, but the frustration of the staff was definitely directed towards me. And I had even less information than they did!!! I had just hoped, given the sensitivity of the situation and it being my first ever mammogram, I would have been treated with more compassion and care. I was very disappointed. I have recently had several appointments at the Breast Care Center. From my initial mammogram, follow-up diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound, and then biopsies, and other pre-op procedures, I was always treated with the utmost care and respect. The radiologists, mammogram technicians, nurse navigator, and reception staff were all so helpful and supportive during a difficult, emotional time.
