I'm quite disappointed in SECU. I've had them since 2009. They turned me down for a car loan multiple times even though my credit is good, and I've been a loyal customer for 15 years. In addition, you used to be able to go to the SECU office to speak with a bank representative via a telephone and virtual screen (no in-person reps); however, the location in Silver Spring, MD has changed this and there are no representatives to speak to at the branch if you decide to go in. Please DO NOT bank with this establishment!!! This bank will give you false information to get your money, then practice shady business practice behind your back to drain money from your account. Secu will go into your account and charge a $30 fee and hide it behind a "mysterious charge" and if you don't catch it and call, they will keep doing it. Even after calling they have done it to me. It’s scary to see how businesses are trying to eliminate actual in person employees. I’m all for technology but I would prefer it to be an option not the only option. Had to deposit a check today that I want able to process through mobile or atm. I had to use a virtual teller which was terribly awkward and did not feel secure at all. The screen is huge showing my information to anyone nearby, the audio was hard to hear so I turned it up and everyone could hear my business. A review for this pathetic credit union as a whole. First, I have had a loan with them since 2018. It wasn’t easy from the start considering our loan didn’t exist somehow. Then, i was able to make payments over the phone. For 2 years straight. I know sometimes I can be a little unorganized but i always managed to pay.
