I am so glad I finally stopped here! The place is very clean and the staff are very nice and accommodating. I met the owner who is very friendly and outgoing. I love that it’s Greek owned and operated so it’s definitely authentic Greek food. I got the gyro which was the best I’ve ever had and huge! My friend had a chicken souvlaki plate with rice pilaf and she said it was so good, she also got a small side Greek salad which was good. They’re not over priced like most places nowadays. What a fantastic experience at The Great Greek in Oceanside! We arrived at closing time, and not only did they graciously stay open for us, but they also treated us with genuine kindness and hospitality. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We were excited to try The Great Greek in Oceanside, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We ordered a Greek burger with fries and a chicken rice bowl and waited about 30 minutes while four groups who ordered after us received their food. When we finally asked to cancel, we were told our food was just going on the grill. There was no apology, explanation, or effort to make things right, so we decided to dine elsewhere. Really appreciate being able to send a fabulous dinner to family. They loved it. Ordered a birthday dinner for my son and family as we couldn’t be there. It was so easy to order, and the delivery was excellent. I was so happy to be part of his day. Excellent service and the pics of the food looked delicious.
We ordered two souvlaki (kebab) plates: steak medium rare and lamb medium well. Both were cooked to perfection and went sooo well with the yogurt dip. I highly recommend the rice pilaf! We also got the gyro meat gyro which was much larger than I expected. The meat is well seasoned and not dry at all, unlike other Greek places I’ve tried.
