My wife and I lived at The National Old City from September 2022 to March 2025, and our experience was absolutely wonderful. From day one, Amanda and Mike went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They greeted us with warm smiles and friendly hellos every time we entered the building, and it was clear they genuinely cared about their residents. This building is chintzy for luxury apartments and Old City doesn't really feel safe anymore since around when Kensington was cleared out. A lot of homeless and many of them out late at night yelling or having episodes. One regular in the neighborhood freaks out in the proximity of little dogs. Just the other night (writing this in Nov 2025) I saw a guy violently smashing windows yelling at someone at 3rd and arch. Lovely place to rent in Old City Philadelphia. What an incredible area of the city! So many different options for food, exercise, shopping and historical sites!! I highly recommend making a reservation with Mike to do a walk through. He is so knowledgeable about every inch of The National Old City Apartments. He was helpful in finding a good place to get monthly parking. The National does have parking onsite but only a few spots. Definitely get on there waiting list ASAP. Ive lived in literal hovels in the Deep South Bible Belt and never lived in a worse place than here at The National in Old City. This was the most expensive place I’ve ever lived- you’re paying for location alone and it isn’t worth it. The staff is undertrained and every appliance and private amenity was nonfunctional. The apartment they had me move into was NOT the layout i signed up for and they were *apparently* not available to meet me after move in despite setting the time themself. I lived at the National for 4 years, and I have nothing but good things to say about the building, the staff, maintenance, and my experience. If there were any maintenance issues, I was confident staff would show up usually within a few hours (possibly next day if the request was not urgent). I had a laundry machine continually give errors, and they showed up within the day to replace the laundry machine with a new one.
