If you are in need of a great dental practice, don't walk, RUN to the Myrtle Beach office!
I have been a patient since about 2014 I think. I originally saw a female dentist and cannot remember her name. She did my extractions and fitting of my temporaries and permanents. Upon receiving my permanent set of Comfi-lights, the highest quality ones they offer, I knew they would not be perfect right out of the gate but other than that I didn't know what to expect. I did state that they felt like I had "too much teeth". I don't think I articulated it well enough so that she knew what I meant, so that is on me. But, they never were "right", I began my extremely long series of adjustments to try to make them functional. Again, being brand new to dentures, it never hit me that no one should need that many adjustments.
Somewhere in the middle of all this, my original dentist was no longer there and I began seeing Dr. Mills. He did not know my history as far as seeing my original teeth and he was not the one that I voiced my original concerns to. Nevertheless he worked patiently with me but no matter what we did, I was haunted by my very first feelings; the teeth themselves were too large for my mouth. I was becoming more and more depressed as I had to reapply fixodent to them several times a day. As time went on, my gums began to get very, very sore to the point that the only time I wore them was when I had to go out in public.
I began researching online how dentures should fit and also reading reviews about Aspen Dental as a whole. Most of what I read was upsetting and negative, which only served to intimidate me regarding asking for a new set that would fit. After several months of being more miserable than ever, I made another appointment. I was in tears as I talked to Dr. Mills and told him what I had told the original dentist; I felt the physical size of the teeth in my dentures were too big. I went on to explain that many years prior I had to have 8 impacted teeth surgically removed from the back on both sides of my mouth, upper and lower, 2 each side because there wasn't enough room in my mouth for them to come through. Dr. Mills was very empathetic and really listened to me. He understood the logic of what I was saying. I felt like a real person as he examined my mouth and dentures, then responded, "You're absolutely right; we need to make you a new set." I almost fell out of the chair! He explained that they are there to give their patients quality dentures that fit comfortably and look natural.
I got my new dentures yesterday and a huge high five to Nathan in the lab as they are BEAUTIFUL! I do have to call today and make an appointment for a couple very minor adjustments, but for the first time in a long time I'm not in pain and feel my teeth look exactly like my original real teeth. I finally know what well fitting dentures feel like! I have an upper plate that stays up!
Anyone having a bad experience is always quick to write a negative review, but very few satisfied customers take the time to write a good review. I hope that Aspen corporate reads this and gives a pat on the back and a raise to everyone at the Myrtle Beach office, especially Dr. Mills, Nathan, Kassi, as well as the office receptionist and Jassy, the office manager. I apologize if I have misspelled anyone's name lol.
My advice to anyone looking for a dental office that will treat you well, is always upbeat and willing to listen, and will absolutely work their hardest to make their patients happy, don't walk - RUN to this location! And most important, don't be swayed by negative reviews.
As humans, we are quick to criticize just by our very nature. If I could give them 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat! Thank you for taking the time to read my short novel.
