This place is getting a mixed review from me; The service was exquisite, the server was polite, professional and friendly. The restaurant is nice, it has a sophisticated feel to it, and seems like a decent up-scale location. I don't particularly like that there's no dress-code, I will say, because it really takes away from the experience to see somebody in a dirty t-shirt and sandals in such a nice place. Great fine dining atmosphere. Amazing service. They bring fresh meat cuts for you to choose from. Obviously, high quality meat! I'm a steak snob and this hit a bullseye for me. They do a pretty dark crust under their broiler so if you want it not so browned you need to ask.
Fine dining at its best! Flew in for 1 night Thanksgiving Day. Called restaurant last minute asked could they take 3 people at 4:30, done! Location, 1/2 block from The Davenport Hotel Downtown where we stayed (loved it as well) My turkey dinner was perfect. My companions meals were also excellent along with the lovely wine selection . Server was extremely knowledgeable about wine selection/meal recommendations cannot recommend enough. Thank you for making it one of my most memorable Thanksgivings.
Happy they got rid of their hamburger happy hour so we can actually have a nice dinner downstairs in the bar
Wonderful service! The steak was to die for, cooked to your liking and so tender. They will bring out a tray filled with the cuts of meat they serve and give you a quick descrption of each so you know what you would like. I will be returning very soon.
Thought I was at the Derby with the name but nope! I'm in Washington!! Not DC but the wet state where it rains (which I love - inconspicuous sweats!). Happy to find this place after something called a Zag got my kitties, damn fella with the mustache. Long way to go to put our tail between the legs and lick our wounds, but the FILET was 1st class. I was home from a deployment and decided to take my girlfriend out to Churchill's .Our waiter was John and let me tell you he was the best waiter I have ever seen , he got to know us with small conversations so he could give us the best possible experience and let me tell you , Our glasses always stayed full , and made sure we had everything we needed. Went there for our anniversary this year. Not very busy for middle of the week. I must say I had the best steak I've had in the city. Really enjoyed our experience there.
A char to remember. Shock and awe, wonderful steaks and service. The shrimp cocktail, the wines, the mash potatoes... The interior wood and plush cushioned velvet walls are comfort that appeases the soul, especially in the darkest of hours. Christmas is a special time for a place like this, and I can only hope I make it back here soon. Thank you for your hospitality in such audacious times as you took us in!
