The Virginia Derby was a Blast. My 1st time ever visiting a race track. The weather was perfect for a mid March day. Everyone was joyous over the special annual occasion. Do not wait for race day next year to get free general admission tickets, for there probably will be none. Make it a family day. Make it a sibling day. Make it a romantic date. Make it something. See you next year at the VD. And Go!!! American Promise, I'll be watching the Kentucky Derby.
Always a Fun Family Day at the Track! Play the slots for $15 till it's gone, eat Cheesesteaks, then watch the Thoroughbreds! So glad this place survived!
I love going here to watch the horses run, and the casino has a nice selection of slot machines to choose from. The casino is very clean, and the service is very helpful and courteous.
I was there for only one race. This was the 1st time I have ever been to a live horse race. Colonial Downs has a good reputation and now I see why. Clean & exciting. There's a huge screen tv there, so you won't lose track of the horses when they're on the far side of the track. Plenty of parking.
Colonial Downs is absolutely beautiful. One of the largest turf courses in the US. The season is short, July-September. Thorough bred racing. Every weekend. The 3rd floor Jockey club has pre paid seating. Very easy to grab seats at the Rosie's customer service counter. The 4th floor is the Restaurant. Reservations required. Try we'll in advance because this is smaller than the Jockey Club. Virginia Derby is a Blast! Definitely going back when it opens.
