Stopped in for a quick bite before continuing our drive to Milwaukee. We were seated right away. The server created us and got our drink order. The food was great and the atmosphere was as well. Very friendly staff greeted us as we came in and said to have a great day when we left.
This is Old Americana food and General Store Fare. The fireplace adds ambiance to the meal with family or comfortable atmosphere. The Hash browns are must have! During Holidays call ahead for reservations, or definitely peruse the front store. It's like stepping back into the 1930s. Enjoy!
On 02/28/2025 we tried each of the 2 new shrimp skillet dishes and we would order both of them again. The Shrimp N' Grits was good but WAY TO LOOSE. Manager said it's been a common complaint and they're working on it. Time will tell. I'm looking forward to the change. The Louisiana Shrimp Skillet was very good but lacking the necessary Cajun flair to live up to the name. That said, my wife loved it. Server was absolutely amazing!
We were there just around 5pm. We found out when paying our bill that our server James, was a very new employee. Awesome job, James!! (and I hope our tip reflected that!!) We were seated immediately, took a minute to order, as I was confused on the day and wanted the Daily Special. Ugh, sometimes..... Anyway, both our meals were tasty and hot but our server. Go James!!
The old fashioned country aesthetic was so calming. They had a fire in the fireplace which really made the atmosphere cozy. The food was all delicious and the portions were very generous. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. I'm definitely coming back here.
