It has been years since I've been to a Cracker Barrel. My husband and I went to this particular restaurant this past weekend. I was sorely disappointed. I had chicken and french toast. The chicken was really good. It tasted like the KFC of old. The french toast was terrible. It was way too soft; no flavor, no cinnamon, and no powdered sugar. This is my favorite Cracker Barrel location. My friends and I have an inside joke about this Cracker Barrel in particular, so I had to stop by while driving past this most recent time. I’ve been here 4 times and the food, service, and store have always been amazing. This time I got the 10oz Strip Steak, the Mashed Potatoes, the Corn, the Dumplin’s, the Fried Shrimp, and of course the Biscuits. Also this is the only place that I know of that has Clove chewing gum, which my Dad really likes.
I went at dinner time. My food was good. Fork was dirty, so many screaming children and kids running around. Workers were sitting at a table eating and talking. My waitress, Kaitlyn, was very unprofessional. She audibly laughed when taking our order because of child’s outburst (pretty sure he was autistic). When the children started screaming she said “that’s my birth control for the day” and laughed again.
It was average. For $17.00 a piece it should have been above average. The cornbread was overdone and dry. The ham was dry. The dressing was good as was the coleslaw. The seasoned rice wasn't seasoned. The turkey was just okay. Next time I won't get the "Easter Special". Our server was great.
