Because we travel, we often stop at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. My husband asked if I wanted to stop. I told him it's winter and the CBOFS usually have their fires going. Seeing I'm allergic to so much, burning wood is one and strong smells. The minute we walked in the door, it smelled nice. No fire, I was relieved. The food was a huge disappointment. I ordered the daily special Chicken and Rice because it had mushrooms. Also got carrots and fried okra. There were literally 5 pieces of okras. The chicken had no mushrooms and I was told you were out. Why would you be out of a daily special ingredient and still serve it. And the piece of chicken was so tiny. For $12.99 that was ridiculous. Them at was the last straw for Cracker Barrel for us.
Store is nice. Table was sticky had syrup everywhere. Ordered fish but it had the skin on it which is OK if it's cooked properly. The skin was soggy instead of crunchy which isn't appealing. There were some bones also in the fish which isn't really safe to swallow. Flavor was good though. Server was nice but gave me the check not even half wa into eating. We can in right before they close. The staff was super friendly. The bathroom was clean. The store ladies were really friendly. The food was really good. Waitress was helpful with dairy allergies.
Food is always great. Service is fine. But my biggest issue is the store in Gainesville Texas needs a serious overhaul of their drive up pickup service. I've used it twice. Second time to give them a second chance to do better. And I will never use this service again.
