Because we travel, we often stop at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. My husband asked if I wanted to stop. I told him it's winter and the CBOFS usually have their fires going. Seeing I'm allergic to so much, burning wood is one and strong smells. The minute we walked in the door, it smelled nice. No fire, I was relieved. As a local, I visit Cracker Barrel often. This was the most disappointing visit ever! The waiter took our order and it was over 20 minutes before we got our food. I ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and onion petals. The meatloaf looked dry, the potatoes were cool and I had to ask for the sauce that was to come with the onion petals. The food was lacking. I ordered breakfast with scrambled eggs, they were flat eggs with busted yoke and sliced in strips. Not fluffy like I expected and the French toast was not browned at all. It appeared dipped and not cooked very well. I normally am happy with my food but that day was disappointing.
The food was a huge disappointment. I ordered the daily special Chicken and Rice because it had mushrooms. Also got carrots and fried okra. There were literally 5 pieces of okras. The chicken had no mushrooms and I was told you were out. Why would you be out of a daily special ingredient and still serve it. And the piece of chicken was so tiny. For $12.99 that was ridiculous. Them at was the last straw for Cracker Barrel for us.
Store is nice. Table was sticky had syrup everywhere. Ordered fish but it had the skin on it which is OK if it's cooked properly. The skin was soggy instead of crunchy which isn't appealing. There were some bones also in the fish which isn't really safe to swallow. Flavor was good though. Server was nice but gave me the check not even half wa into eating.
