My recent experience with Dave's Hot Chicken left me frustrated and disappointed. The inconveniences began with the rejection of cash as payment, a decision that seemed inconvenient and inflexible. When attempting to place an order over the phone, the insistence on using the app for pickup added another layer of difficulty. Ordered through Uber Eats. Order was missing items. Called the number on the receipt and after 5 minutes listening to a ringing phone I gave up. No one answered No way to get my order fixed Terrible service!!!

I was as mildly disappointed in the quality of chicken and the fries were far too salty to enjoy, but by far the biggest disappointment was walking in and waiting 5-6 mins beneath the 'pickup' sign before giving up and walking over to the server. Even when the server wasn't serving anyone else she didn't make any attempt to check if I needed any help - eventually I got my food and of course it was cold at this point. This is a far cry from what I expected from this establishment that is said to be famous for their hot chicken. I ordered 2 combos and a poutine for pickup, however the order was missing my cheese fries, and the chicken while juicy lacked seasoning. The hot and xtra hot were closer to bland and mild. Their take on a poutine was laughable with nacho cheese and gravy. A sauce on sauce situation barely saved by the chicken.

They are called Dave's hot chicken for a reason ! they do not have mild other than in name only !I ordered a mild slider but had no taste buds after the 1st bite-would certainly hate to try anything spicier than that they've got another three levels above mild I believe.

The branding and packaging is on point and while branding is good at bringing customers in the first time, the food is what keeps them coming back. Let's just say that I won't be coming back. Despite the chicken being heavily seasoned, it was extremely bland. There wasn't much depth to the flavour. The sauce that came with the combo was also very bland. It was plain and creamy. The fries were good, but when the only other side is plain white wonder bread, there's really nothing that can save this meal.

I was charged twice for my order last Sunday and was told that they could not process refunds at that location. I was asked to send 'head office' a request to have the money credited to my account on Monday. Sent messages through their website on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Crickets. Call the store on Wednesday and was promised it would be refunded. Got a call from the Parkdale store today offering a refund if I would travel across the city to their store.
