Dr. Vick is a wonderful doctor. She listens to concerns and get to know her patients. She is so good with both my kids and I feel completely comfortable with her.
I thought Dawn Vick was the best in Baton Rouge, but boy I was wrong about that. After each appointment being rushed and her not taking my concerns seriously, I decided to switch pediatricians. My daughter was having trouble gaining weight (took 3 weeks to get back to birth weight), choking while eating, and had terrible gas. I told her about this for 6 straight weeks and saw her in person a total of 6 times because life became miserable with a newborn screaming for 5 hours in the middle of the night with bad gas. Dr. Vick spent all of 20 seconds assessing my baby and ignored half of our concerns. Two days after seeing her, my baby ended up in the hospital severely dehydrated and with RSV. We told her that he was not eating and drinking yet she told us to give him mucinex. My baby is 17 months old and it is not appropriate to give him that especially since he was not drinking fluids. Dr Vick quickly brushed off our concerns after a 45 minute wait in the waiting room and another 15 in the exam room. Our child was diagnosed with something benign when in fact a few days later we were informed she was in fact very sick. Her bedside manner was poor and I personally do not trust her judgment with my children’s healthcare needs. Next time she is on call we will visit urgent care instead.
