My grandmother enter Encompass and under went rehab after hip surgery. The doctor on staff ordered medicine that caused bleeding complications where she lost 4 units of blood and had to be rushed to a hospital. After she completed her rehab, Encompass coded the treatment as Acute Health instead of rehab so now she is being billed for the entire stay instead of Medicare covering the first 21 days. Spent five days post lumbar laminectomy. The staff was nice and attentive enough, but I never felt my well being was a top priority. As a fresh post-op, I was put in a room with a medical patient with a chronic cough. Never heard of the mixing of surgical and medical patients in this manner. It wasn’t until I inquired about the patient’s cough that it was addressed. I pushed to leave prior to my recommended days for treatment. Unfortunately, I should have left as soon as I arrived. My father spent 2 weeks at Encompass and when he was released to us, he was very sick. Less than 24 hours later he was in ICU with COVID and died. I am heartbroken. Encompass never COVID tested him.
