Deceptive business practices are used by Extra Space Storage. I rented a covered outdoor storage space for my vehicle at their *********-************************ location in ******. No mention was made of the $60/month rate being promotional. Three months later they supposedly sent a notice of rate increase to $120/month. I did not receive this notice. I rented a storage space with ExtraSpace Storage at ******************** ******* **********. The monthly rate was $286/month. At the one-year ***** I received a notice in the mail that reads: "Thanks for choosing extra space storage to keep your belongings, safe! As a month to month rental provider, our rates are reviewed and adjusted depending on current market conditions. Beware of Life Storage's Unfair Rate Hikes and Lack of Transparency I recently had a disappointing experience with Life Storage and feel compelled to share my thoughts to warn potential renters. BE VERY CAREFUL OF THIS COMPANY.EXTRA SPACE WILL SIGN YOU UP AT ONE ***** AND THEN 3 MONTHS LATER RAISE THE ***** BY 50%. EXTRA SPACE DOES THIS DELIBERATELY AND CONVENIENTLY LEAVES OUT THAT THESE LEASES ARE MONTH TO MONTH AND THAT THEY CAN RAISE THE *****S AT ANY TIME AT RANDOM. THE LANGUAGE IS SO VAGUE ON THE CONTRACT THAT IT'S EASILY MISSED AND THEY MAKE SURE THEIR STAFF DOES NOT TELL YOU ABOUT THIS.
Company uses bait and switch pricing scheme. Website advertise 8'x10' unit at 88$ but I ended up at 145$ couple of months later. There is no indication in their website about any promotional rate period nor how much $$$ a customer will end up couple of months later. Requested the manager of adjusting my rate to the current advertised rate but to no avail. She does not think this is predatory marketing. What do you think?
I cannot believe what I’ve experienced in Houston Texas. Westheimer store has a new manager John P****** who does not have any idea how to do his job. He was the person that screwed up my account causing conflict. He was VERY nasty to me and I got tired of him being t rude so I contacted my husband to be a witness. The staff at this location have always been EXCELLENT and are the reason I am giving an extra star. Thank you! 5 stars for the service.I am dissatisfied with the predatory practices of Extra Space Storage. My account was on auto pay, and one of my payments failed.
