We had hired fields Law firm to help us with some legal issues Unfortunately when you win a settlement, you have to pay in taxes, on the money the firm makes off your claims. So not only do you pay taxes on what your portion of the settlement was, but you also MUST pay taxes on the money the lawyers made. You are forced to pay that back in taxes.
