Recommended**Updated review based on a statement on 9/10/19 from Sofia Vargas Lukas, Director of ICT Gainesville, that they will no longer participate in activities where balloons are released.** Balloon releases do nothing but litter our environment when they fall back to the earth as trash. It's unsightly and signals that residents who would allow such a thing must have no pride in their community and no respect for any living thing around them, including other humans. Mass littering of the earth and killing poor animals doesn’t seem very Christian to me. Hang your head in shame if you do this. Shame, shame, shame on you.
How worrying that any educational institution would be so grossly uninformed about the harms of mass littering.
Allowing and encouraging balloon releases on your campus demonstrates a poor understanding of how asinine actions can lead to the (hopefully) unintended consequences of littering in one of the most beautiful areas of our state and causing potential injury or death to native Georgia wildlife. I strongly urge you to CANCEL the planned balloon release on your campus.
