Super easy, soooo much better than sand! My favorite pool filter. Recommended from a guy, me, who spent three years in the pool service business in college. Longest D.E. life, so it’s very cost friendly. Just keep the pool water chemically balanced, bump the handle to rejuvinate the D.E., and that’s it. Easiest pool maintenance you could imagine. I’m in Florida with a screen room and a cleaner running.YMMV.

Happy Bought this to replace the same filter which I purchased 12 years ago. The DE fingers had reached the end of their life on the old one and de was returning back to the pool. This is actually the third Hayward perplex to go on my 35 year old inground pool. Saw some negative reviews and I wanted to let everyone know the filter arrived perfectly. Still strong after 4-years of use I've had this for 4-years and it is still working fine. I had to replace the bump handle after 2-years because a tree fell on it. I take the whole thing apart every 6-weeks and power wash the filter fingers. I don't know if you are supposed to do that, but it works.
fantastic....but, they forgot one finger every year has been a hassle with the pool. the pump leaks, its clogged and wont back wash, the nest is cracked, the diaphragm is leaking, spit all the DE into the pool.... finally said THATS IT. and bought this whole new unit. WOW. easy to install (knew it would be), our pool has never been this cleaner or trouble free. should have replaced this years ago. the only thing i am doing different living in an area that gets below freezing in the winter is remove the whole unit after clean... read more
Great filter Very easy to set up
5.0 out of 5 stars Best filter on the market. This filter does what its supposed to do if your not getting 7-8 years on the shell your not taking care of your pool properly, end of story, if you think the grids inside are supposed to last more than 2 to 3 years your ignorant of what pools take, which is constant pressure for 8-12 hours a day. Great filter, But only easy to install if replacing the same filter. It's hard to explain how happy I am with this filter. My old one was letting stuff through and clouding the water. It worked great for 18 years. I struggled with keeping the pool clean the last 2 years. I guess the fingers started to fail. All I needed was a new set of fingers but that costs just about the same as a new filter. I installed it in 45 minutes and the water has been crystal clear since.
