La Vida del Mar (LVDM) is the greatest. My 87-year old mom has been there now for almost 3 years. I like that LVDM doesn't feel institutional at all - more like a family or a village of very caring people.. The staff led by Laura West is very loving, attentive and professional. We particularly appreciate the many special events and activities that keep the residents in good spirits. Life Changes. We moved here mid-November 2019. We expected quality living conditions, compassionate care, meals in the lovely dining room, interesting group and class meetings, engaging staff--it's all here. Then Covid-19 hit the world. Early in March we were quarantined to the facility. Our lives, by necessity, are "smaller." To keep us safe and healthy the staff has gone way beyond to keep us engaged, albeit sometimes online. I cannot say enough good things about La Vida Del Mar. The entire staff is so attentive and kind to my mother's needs. She's only been there a short time, and they have done so much to help her integrate into the community. Leaving soon. Not a happy place for me. Did not follow my doctors dietary orders. Little or no activities for independent people. Manager was not truthful. Manager upset this resident many times. I do not recommend this place. On the surface it's attractive. But the age is a problem. Oblivious to resident suggestions. Don't even try.

My sister and I went to La Vida's manager Michael Williams to discuss the possibility of my mother coming to live there. At 99 years of age It has been beyond an upsetting time watching and caring for our loved one during their transition. Everything looked nice, nice amenities and programs for residents to engage in. So they sent Beatriz out first thing next morning without even calling me or arranging a meeting with me for an assessment of my mother at Torrey Pines Senior living... My mom has been there for about 4 years - she'll be turning 98 this year. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful this place is. Laura West Exec. Dir. has done a great job ensuring that all the caregivers are on the same page. My mom is slowly starting to decline and I can't express how grateful I am that she was fortunate to live in such a wonderful place.
La Vida Del Mar is a wonderful retirement community! I have worked here for 8 years and my residents and staff members have truly become family! We all have such a close bond and friendship. Residents receive care with respect, compassion and are encouraged to maintain their independence and get back into their hobbies that they haven't done in a while or perhaps find some new hobbies. This is a wonderful and caring community. We cannot imagine any better care. They know all of our father's aging issues, and address them with dignity and care. The front desk staff are the best! They know what's going on and can answer all of our questions immediately. Our father has been living here for two years and enjoys all the activities fully. The food is fantastic and the dining room staff are attentive and dutiful. Look no further because this is the place your parent should be!
La Vida Del Mar is a wonderful community, owned and operated by a very caring and insightful company, Senior Resource Group. The community is home to Independent and Assisted Living residents in a truly distinctive environment. Residents and Families rate it very highly. The individual possibly referenced in the 7/14/2013 posting has not worked at the community since early 2012.
