The best Using Brother ink for a Brother printer is the way to go. I have used off brands before and found out the hard way that they don’t work well. They eventually leak and make a huge mess inside the printer .

Genuine Brother ink cartridges are best I've tried the knock-offs, but they don't compare to these cartridges. The print quality is great, and the number of copies are better. And the prices here are the deciding factor.
