We adopted Hannah, our niece, when she was 8 years old and she struggled tremendously in school. When she came to live with us at almost 7, she couldn't read, comprehend, or complete simple math problems. Student # 1. LearningRx stretched me brain to think out of the box. It made me see things that I couldn't have seen before. I do believe that my trainer stretched me past my wall and opened my mind to many things. I can comprehend what I read better and faster than before, math is a lot easier for me too. Our LearningRx journey started when out daughter turned 8. We knew she was struggling in school areas but were unsure how to help her through them. Some of the areas of difficulty were: rhythm - she could not hear or feel rhythm/beat, she was unable to blend words (she knew all the basic letter sounds and could say them, for example C-A-T, but when she was asked to blend them she would say something like "mop"), she would get easily frustrated with activities she didn't understand, she was unable to follow more than one dire... read more
The drastic improvements seen in my daughter were beyond what I had hoped. My daughter couldn't read, did not know her letters or sounds after years of trying. She could not even count to 10. Now, after less than one year, she can do all these things and more!
Isaac struggled with reading - he didn't want to ever sit down and read. The initial assessment helped clarify and put into words exactly what Isaac was struggling with. To be able to verbalize it was helpful. We appreciated his teacher who was always encouraging and so positive with him. Kelly made the 90 minutes enjoyable and go by quickly with lots of different engaging activities. Since completing the program, we have seen some improvement in his reading. He is more willing to read on his own now.
After a long hard year of school, we had ca;;ed everywhere to find and get Shaylee some help. That is when I had stumbled upon LearningRx. They did their assessment on Shayleee, that showed that she was very behind in every aspect of school. Overall our experience w/ LearningRx was great. Our daughter has come a long way in the last six months. Through the Read program she has gone from a very slow, choppy reader who would guess at any word she did not recognize to a more fluent reader who is trying to sound out very difficult words. Before LearningRx, I had trouble doing and completing simple tasks, such as test taking, homework, simple math and comprehension. Every time I would sit down to take a test I felt panicked.
