Dr. Shanklin always take care of me! I recently had an ear infection that would not go away. Dr. Shanklin was clearly concerned about my illness and was determined to cure it. I am happy to say that I am feeling much better.
I went in for my annual checkup where the doctor asked me some questions about my current health and I answered honestly. The doctor was very nice and recommended a couple things for me to try out and prescribed me more medicine. A month later I get multiple calls and letters saying I have a remaining balance that I need to pay. I called Primary Care to inquire and they explained I was billed for 2 visits on the same day- 1 for my annual and 1 for a generic visit ($120 out of pocket total). I talked with Primary Care and exp... read more
I had a sports related injury that was causing neck pain that radiated down my arm. I was prescribed 100 mg Gabapentin once a day. I was not given any additional information about the drug. It did not work. I healed on my own in a couple of weeks. I re injured the same spot, only this time the pain was much worse. I could not sleep for 2 weeks and started feeling numbness in my fingers. I went back, and he sent me for an X-ray, and gave me the same drug at a higher dose, but still no explanation. I went back for a follow up ... read more
If you need a prescription, you'll be having to go in every 3 months for a checkup or your prescription will not be filled. I'm not on any narcotic, opioid, or anti-depressant. Just standard blood pressure and a pre-diabetic medication. Went for my "complete" physical yearly exam and besides the tech checking my blood pressure/pulse, wasn't even looked at. Just asked questions whether my medication was going ok. So odd. Nurse practitioners are better. They do take the time to at least talk to you. But I'll be finding a docto... read more
Not good
Take time to read all the reviews. The negative ones are truthful. Count on having to go in every 3 months if you want your prescriptions refilled. The nursing staff is often rude. Nurses will always be the ones to return calls and so you'll never be able to talk to Shanklin or a nurse practitioner unless you've made an appointment. And count on upsells: his skinny shots or his laser treatments or his ophthalmologic equipment.
Originally began seeing Dr. Shanklin around 2010, after a few appointments I left to find another doctor as I was not satisfied with the care I was receiving. I always felt rushed and that the concerns that I had were not important to him. After 9 years I decided to give his services another chance as my husband was now seeing him. The minute I stepped foot in the office I felt like his office had become very commercialized, now offering ads for weight loss injection and energy shots. I was not even seen by Dr. Shanklin, but... read more
Be prepared for a hands-off experience with Shanklin. You're much better with one of his Nurse Practitioners. And don't count on the nurses ever getting anything correct. I've had multiple problems with prescriptions being sent in incorrectly, phone calls never being returned, no communication with pharmacies. I'll save you a lot of headaches and frustration by encouraging you to keep looking for better primary care doctor. Just because he's on his own and independent doesn't mean he's better.
Dr Shanklin is the worst doctor I have ever been to. He is rude arrogant and only cares about himself. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone!!
