We took our daughter to Dr. Patel because she got an abnormal result on an EEG from another neurologist that said we need to look into that further. The other neurologist had her on a low dose of seizure medication to which Dr. Patel said to keep her on it because that dose is low enough that it won't be an issue or affect the EEG results. She recommended a 30 minute EEG in her office and then a 3 day EEG. Dr Patel told her receptionist everything about my case in her waiting room to her receptionist and got mad at me when I asked her about it.
My medical issue was not clear to anyone so when we went to Dr.Patel she gave us a diagnosis that would have meant I had to have gotten a surgery would mean I would never be able to function like a normal person again. She referred me to get this surgery but then we were able to get an appointment with another neurologist we told me straight out that there was no clear diagnosis for my issue and I should just work with what I have seen caused improvement for me. I brought my little one here and was very disappointed in our experience. There is a reason why there is often availability because they rush you in and out. Dr. Patel pushes you off to her Physician Assistant and when you do get a few moments with her she provides conflicting medical advice and limited education for families. My daughter had a procedure with scary side effects that weren’t shared with us prior to treatment. We are now with Pediatric Centers of VA. Dr Patel conveyed highly sensitive and serious information regarding my daughter's health through her front office receptionist, rather than taking the time to phone me directly.
