This replaced three devices - a 20 + year old HP LaserJet B&W that was on it's last legs - and a 13 year old Epson (slow) scanner, as well as a 10 year old HP color inkjet. Needless to say I have less wires, more available connections and larger unused desk area now.
I can't say anything con or bad about this Multi-Function with several days use. Setup was easy following the quick start guide as it's ethernet wired to my router with a Win10 PC and WIFI with an upstairs PC (Win7), a MacBook Pro with Air Print and an iPad also with AirPrint.
The only glitch was with the Win7 PC. No printer driver available from Microsoft even after a driver update, but Brother's web site has a driver download for a 64bit Win7. Once the driver was downloaded connection as quick.
What can I say about AirPrint except it connected immediately with no fussing from me.
Machine is quiet and goes into sleep mode when not used for a couple of minutes. Multiple ways to feed paper, two sided print, envelope and label printing, not much more I need, even fax which I don't need (does anybody?).
I use this multi-function for my non professional home office so it won't see a lot of use, but hoping for longevity at least as much as the LaserJet.
I considered another HP multifunction but with the chipped laser cartridges preventing alternative buying I went with the Brother. Not to say I won't buy Brother cartridges, but at least I have an option.
I have not needed direct Brother support yet as their self help web site has a lot of easy to access solutions/information.
The print quality to me is good ++ but not as rich as the Inkjet. Scanner utility is easy and the scanner is very fast.
This is a well designed and thought out printer/scanner.
