This doctor spent more time with me that any other doctor I have ever been to, and nailed the problem quickly. Wonderful pulmonologist. Now, if only his office staff could emulate him. They are just as ugly as he is beautiful.

I am now over 70 years old, and at the age when many physicians tend to ignore most of what I have to say. Dr. McCarthy is NOT one of those MDs. He listens well, is easy to talk to, never rushes through my visits. Answers all my questions thoroughly, in language I can understand. I feel very fortunate to be his patient. Wish all my health care professionals were as kind and competent as Dr. McCarthy.

Very nice doctor. Spends time and listens. Only complaint is with his nursing staff.

I liked him initially but then when a test came back, he emailed me on mychart to tell me about it and said if I had questions to let him know. So I asked him questions, then he sends me a bitter message at 5am on MyChart saying if I want more information on what the lab technician's results mean, that I should come in for an appointment. Don't tell me if I have questions to let you know then not answer my question and get mad at me for asking a question!

I choose Dr McCarthy since he’s been around for a while. I was very disapp.that even though I was diagnosed w/ clinical narcolepsy 2 yrs prior by another Dr. He dismissed it-he only goes by sleep study (which I had done). To be diag. clinically, it takes a lot of time, tests & symp.to rule out other possib. & put together a list of on going sympt. that would qualify for a diag.of “clinical” narcolepsy— which was done a yr. before my visit. The dr caring for me had moved. So, on to my next issue: My asthma was so bad that I wa... read more

Dr. McCarthy is a very nice man, however, if test results doesn't show anything different than before, and the patient is coming in for help, due to breathing issues, he doesn't attempt to dig further to see why symptoms have changed.
