Palmetto Gas Corporation opened in 1962 as Sumter’s newest energy company. The brainchild of entrepreneur Scott Rumph, Jr., the company had its roots in converting oil-fueled tobacco barns to cleaner, cheaper propane burners. The company began operation on Lafayette Drive where it continues to operate the bulk plant. Much has changed since the ‘60s, and Palmetto Gas has grown to meet our customers’ evolving needs through the years.

Can't ever said I had a bad review to give but a concern. I paid my bill late didn't realize how late I was. To make a long story short didn't want to keep calling back asking questions but since my payment was late I missed my delivery date. Wanted to know how long before a delivery will be made to my area being that that's my family's only source of heat and the temperature are going to be freezing.
Service is outstanding! From management, service crew, to gas delivery; it was a great experience. There are 5 other companies to chose from in the local area. From the first phone call to the to the fuel delivery, all were pleasant to deal with. As a first time gas customer, they were all patient explaining things to me and never appeared annoyed or bothered by my questions. Wayne and James are great installers. - I have had service with them for ~3 years. I only received gas 3 times (2 by request). After an unrequested delivery, I added a note to my account to wait for my call before delivering, non-issue. However, most recently, I requested 50 gallons to be delivered through their customer portal (1/25/2025). There is a place to enter the requested amount and there is no indication of a minimum required amount for delivery. The delivery was prompt (1/27/2025) and the driver did their part. I had Palmetto Gas put in a Rinnai unit for me a few years ago. I was going to do a flush on the system because, it's just been long enough and I felt like it might need it to get some of the build-up out. Well, when I went to hookup my water lines to the fittings that were installed, I couldn't because of the way the plumbing was done. Always a pleasant experience. Positive attitudes over the phone, always willing assist while practicing patience, and they do try to get out to your home as soon as possible. Highly recommend
