The staff was great they really seem to care about the people and they make it a point to learn everyone’s name. The facility is well maintained and the food is pretty good to.
Not in the best neighborhood

Nice facility. Lunch was very tasty, good variety and portions. One bedroom has a very nice layout. Large living room, wall separated kitchenette, large bedroom with large walk-in closet. Bar hangers rather high, difficult for wheel chair bound person to reach. Would need to be adjusted down. Nice bathroom with walk-in bath. No linen closet. Small closet in entryway with Water Heater in it also - No shelves for storage. Guest rooms for guests or temporary stay while room is prepared, furniture moved in.
I toured Parsons House Austin, as it was close to me. A friend told me that it's not fancy, but Parsons House seemed like more of a stereotypical old folks home. When you walk in, you kind of walk into their living area. It looked a little bit sad, small and old. The people were really nice, but it was not a good fit.
Parsons House did not impress me at all. You walked in and if felt like a nursing home pretty much. There's no central AC, so it was stuffy. Everything was an add-on. Their base price seemed cheaper at the beginning, but then every little thing was an add-on.
This facility has given us a great offer to get by until our home sells. They are great to work with. We will be touring the available apt. tomorrow with my parents. The virtual tour was wonderful! UPDATE...live tour...not a good fit for my parents. I am letting them pick the facility. Very disappointed that there is actually no courtyard as was stated as the prime apartment they suggested to us from our virtual view with a little balcony to sit outside. There was frequent turnover of the staff and lack of communication between staff members from shift to shift. This made it difficult on the residents and the family members. We chose this community because the location is close to my house, I know some of the other resident, it was diverse, and I liked the different amenities that they offered. Also, it was clean and the halls were very pretty.
