My 9 year old had to have some deep cavities filled and was pretty apprehensive. During the first filling she was very upset, and crying, but the dentist and the assistant were great at trying to soothe her. The dentist gave her a break between the two fillings to calm down, and during that time the assistant was amazing and took the time to show her each item they were using like the filling paste- putting some on a paper towel so she could see it wasn’t injections.
