Get directionsThey did a good job, it's just a rough time in our lives. I would recommend to others.
3 so far, things could be better. Some of the staff doesn't seem to do their jobs they are more interested in playing on their phones than checking on the seniors. My wife and I had to rescue a woman that had fallen and was telling for help. Also I think a couple of my mom's rings were stolen. They need cameras at least in the hallways to keep their staff honest. I put a camera in my mom's room. They put a note outside her door to warn their staff. Not sure why they feel the need to warn them
We learned that in memory care units, the residents will take things from each other. They had warned us about this and not to bring anything of value. It happens more than we expected. We have had to regularly replace items like clothing, slippers, glasses & pictures. I am guessing this is normal. It would be good to set expectations for any family about that is about to go through this.
It was nice to know while in assisted living there was an opportunity for a Medicaid waiver. They did provide many opportunities for my Aunt to experience events outside of the facility and activities with in. The common areas of the facility were bright and clean, and the staff appeared friendly. As with any facility, the staff turnover is tremendous and you find one or two gems that are great with your loved ones. I liked the look, smell and feel of it. We had a very good experience with Ashford. Except for one very bad experience. I would use them again.
I would say to definitely visit a handful of locations before making a decision. It will help you what to expect with memory care. We felt Ashford had the best physical layout with the outdoor courtyard being surrounded by the building. We liked the loop where the residents can get to common areas or their room regardless of which way they go. The staff has been good and has given us reasonable expectations. My mother-in-law has gained weight which is a good thing.
We toured The Ashford of Grove City and it was a nice facility. We had a good tour. The cleanliness, friendliness, and staff were all good. However, we believed that our loved one aligned with the activities more at another facility that we had toured than they would have at this facility.
I would say they are very good and caring and have a lot to offer. The rooms and facilities are very nice and clean. That being said, they are short staffed like most places and things didn't always go as planned. Most staff are very caring, but there was a nurse or two that occasionally was grumpy. Occasionally she didn't get her shower, when scheduled, or her laundry done or trash emptied. One night they forgot to put her in bed and she sat in her chair all night and no one noticed. The staff was properly appalled and apol... read more
My loved one is still settling in and there were some glitches in communication and with staffing levels but they are improving. A major move is never easy and takes time to adjust to. But it is worth the effort.
