About this business

The Lawrence House, built as a luxury apartment hotel, has been a cornerstone of life since its construction in 1928. The flats design team restored the building's original skylight, mosaic pool tiling, and terrazzo flooring as well as establishing an open lobby that acts as a free co-working space, adjacent to retailers such as a coffee shop and bar. Additional amenities include a backyard open to the public, a rooftop lounge and communal kitchen for residents, and a 6,000-square-foot fitness center including the fully rest... read more

Super social, helpful staff, and small kitchens The Lawrence House is a beautiful space with lots of ammenities in the building. Having a bar and cafe in the building is great gor a social life. Leasing with Flats Life gives you access to the amenities in all the buildings in Chicago, not just the Lawremce House, which is nice, although only one is in walking distance. in-unit washer/dryer is amazing. The only complaint I have is the kitchen size. It's pretty miniscule in most apartments. It's acceptable if you decide to liv... read more

I've lived at the Lawrence House for a little over a year now & I' just love it here. First of all my one bedroom apartment is beautiful. It has lake, skyline & neighborhood views. I barely watch tv; I just look out my window & see what's going on in the world. My rain-shower is AMAZING; it's so relaxing after a stressful day & in unit laundry is incredibly convenient. Whenever I have an issue with my apartment Sedit & Jim from maintenance are quick to fix it (they'll even change lightbulbs which is a HUGE plus because I'm a... read more

First of all, I LOVE my beautiful new apartment! the Smeg fridge is so cute & has plenty of space for everything I need + I really like the subway tile backsplash; it's attractive & will be so easy to keep clean. The glass enclosed rain shower really is luxurious, but most importantly there's great water presure, and plenty of hot water :) The Lawrence House team from the door staff, matience team, and property management have all been very welcoming and supportive. My packages are taken care of, my minor matience request ... read more

Not the worst, not the best, here's the scoop I've lived here about 7 months and definitely won't be re-upping my 1 year lease. It's alright, and having someone at the door 24/7 makes me feel safe even if it is just the doorman and not also the security guard (who is usually there at night). You need a key fob for the elevators, so really only the lobby (bar, patio, coffee shop) is open to the public which is fine. A studio here is probably the newest/best amenities you can get for living alone in Chicago at this price. Howe... read more

Resident for a year The reviews here are a bit silly and must be coming from tenants that have never lived outside of a two or three flat in Chicago. You chose a building with full amenities and a coffee shop/bar in the lobby. Everyone and their grandma is going to want repeat visits to use all the outdoor spaces. That is what happens when you have a ton of cool stuff to utilize. If you show up to the concerts and movie nights 30 minutes prior to start, I can guarantee you'll get a good seat and not have to cry about having ... read more

This has become a community hub for nearby residents. When friends and I want to get together and talk, we nearly almost always end up in the comfy chairs in the lobby, either sipping coffee from Heritage Outpost or drinks from Larry's. It's welcoming and comfortable. A equally good place for after-work libations or to talk to your insurance agent. Beautifully restored, so you get a feeling of Uptown's past grandeur. Definitely an asset to the area.

Business response:

Thank you Nichole for the compliments! We work hard to ensure that The Lawrence House is a welcoming home for residents while also being an asset to the greater community. We hope you come say hi again soon!
