I am extremely upset with the experience I had with Dr. Timothy Houden at Utah Spine Care-Ogden Clinic last week during my rhizotomy. I was told this was a minimally invasive procedure and I would be given medication to calm and relax me. It was apparent immediately that whatever medication was administered through my IV did not work. I was coherent and awake during the entire procedure and in excruciating pain. Because of the pain I was moaning and groaning hoping he would stop to see why I was in such pain. Dr. Houden seem... read more
The Dr performed two rhizotomy procedures on each side of my neck. The 3xperiencecwas very painful. I was prescribed additional medication for extended pain. My recovery was longer than his PA expected and with no relief. I’ve not returned. I have since been treated by another Spine Specialist, Orthopedist with excellent rhizotomy procedures and relief.
The staff were friendly. I had two injections at the same time in my lower back for bulging disc putting pressure on my sciatic nerve. The shots did not help, and five days later I'm in extreme pain. I called in to express my condition, but was told to take Ibuprofen. The next scheduled app't is three weeks away....for physical therapy!! I can't even walk!! Not happy with the Doctor's nonchalance attitude.
Required to meet with nurse initially to assess/record my information, who took a personal phone call on her cell phone during my appointment. Was never introduced to Dr Houden until after he applied my first (and last) injection. Injection was given on opposite side of my neck where pain was actually occuring. When I asked afterwards why that occurred, received a blank stare, no response, explanation and no pain relief. Pursued referral to different Dr, had a very positive experience.
Dr. Houden brushed off my concerns as if they meant nothing. He placed my epidural at McKay and I was worried about getting one due to the prior one hurting during placement and years after. I felt like he was too confident in himself to value what I had to say as a patient. I don't feel like he even took me serious at all. I felt that he was arrogant in his demeanor after still not willing to admit something wasn't right because he couldn't be wrong.
Be very careful of details such as signing papers concerning malpractice. He is terrified of being sued and is a vindictive, egotistical physician. I have never been treated so meanly by a doctor in my life. The pain he inflicted left emotional scars. He has no right to treat people so roughly. Nor should he practice medicine. He forgot his oath...
