good value for a desktop printer/fax/copier It is a good value but do not expect to get 8000 copies, not because it is out of toner but because it has a gear that counts down and when it gets to the end it requires replacement, in other words Brother knows exactly how many copies you are going to get! Inconsistently Quality, but works well if you get a good one The first cartridge printed pages with small smudges on the top 1/3 of the pages. The page was still readable but looked smeared and dirty. Not what you expect from a $100+ genuine cartridge. Fortunately, Amazon customer service was helpful and set up a swap. The new cartridge is night and day better. From the very first test page, the text is sharp and the rest of the page is smudge-free white.
