As usual, my dental appointment last week was more like a visit with friends I don't see on a daily basis but look forward to getting together with every three or four months. My dental condition is complicated, involving episodic inflammation and implants — implants that Dr. Higgins placed more than 20 years ago. He has managed to keep them intact and my natural teeth in working order; and he has never caused any pain, despite my avoidance of anesthesia.
