My son was very anxious about going to the dentist, which is why we chose a pediatric dentist. We had to wait for over an hour and a half to be seen. This made my son extremely agitated, making a "bad" situation much worse. More time needs to be scheduled between appointments.
There is always a billing problem, after you pay your bill, you always get another for something. It seems like everything is over priced even with a great insurance plan. At times you feel like they are more worried about selling you something then they are with the actual exam.
Dental hygienist and dentist were great. One negative is that I made an appointment with a particular dentist that had treated Troy previously, and when I showed up for the appt I was told the dentist was not in. I should have been notified about this.
The dentist received a personal phone call just as my 4 year old daughter was about to get her teeth cleaned and had the suction tube in her mouth. Although we said we didn't mind that she took it, she left the room and was gone for around 20 minutes. To have us wait that long and to then to have my 4 year old daughtet's teeth cleaned by an unfamiliar hygienist was unprofessional. When we got to the office we were told that we did not have an appointment. This despite a number of emails sent to us reminding us that we did have an appointment. I even confirmed the appointment. We were told that, fortunately for us, there just happened to be an opening. So my daughter got her cleaning and it all work out but what if there wasn't an 'opening?' The upshot is, your computer system needs work. The staff is great.
My only concern was that I wasn't informed ahead of time that the preventative standard fluoride treatment that has been done on all 3 of my kids was not covered this time by my insurance ( I was informed after the visit that it was covered once a calandar year and since my insurance had changed a year ago, it wasn't covered every 6 months. I paid close to $150, for 3 kids. Was Informed of possible cavity, but dr wasn't positive - may need further cleaning to evaluate? Possibly sealant instead? Explained, but maybe at next visit will be clarified further
Michael was in a lot of pain the night of his cleaning. This was the first time he saw a hygenist for a cleaning and not Dr. Jeanine. He was in tears and now refuses to see anyone, but Dr. Jeanine.
