The three things I like about this place: 1. Great, knowledgeable, and friendly staff. 2. Easy to make appointments - often same-day. 3. Excellent pricing. Negatives: 1. The outside of the building isn't too pretty, but personally I could care less. Ugly buildings usually mean lower prices, right? 2. There isn't a lot of separation in the waiting room. You get a few people in there and it's hard to keep the animals apart. This isn't a problem for me, mind you - but I could see how it would be bad if your dog/cat was aggr... read more

Don't be deceived by the very simple outer veneer of this place - all that is gold does not glitter, right? I just adopted a kitten and needed to get him in for his first vet visit. I'm new to the Lakewood area and didn't have a vet already lined up, so I kind of blindly decided to go with proximity and visit the Alameda Vet Clinic (it's a whopping 4 blocks from our house). I also thought I had heard a few online friends sing its praises, so going on both potential pros I took my little Scooter Bill there this afternoon. ... read more

This is a really great Veterinary Clinic - they're open at useful hours - including the weekends, they're very friendly, and they really know their stuff.

If I could give less than one star, I would. They continue to be pissy and weird long after I refused to go to them anymore. Just awful.

Avoid at all costs! This is my neighborhood vet clinic. I have been going here for years, and I knew that they were overcharging, but I had no idea how much until I tried to get my dog neutered. They insisted on blood work, although no one else did. When I came for the appointment, I asked what the charge would be for the procedure. After trying to avoid telling me for a bit, they finally handed me a piece of paper with a total of $1100. I immediately left and made an appointment with someone else. The entire procedure cost ... read more

I really, really wanted to like Alameda Vet Clinic, as the staff is generally pleasant and it's close to my house. I gave them multiple chances, but after my recent experiences I now have no other choice but to seek care for my dog elsewhere. As far as annual check-ups go, I never had any issues. But when other problems began to arise with her, I was truly able to see how incompetent and apathetic the staff at this office truly is. My dog is suffering from some health issues (she's asymptomatic, but her blood tests are comi... read more

WARNING: MEDICAL MALPRACTICE. Do not trust with allergies, dermatology, or his judgment regarding what is an emergency situation. Short story: Dr. Howard (mis?)diagnosed my 2yo dog's extremely itchy skin as food allergy induced pyoderma. He gave her 8 different medications including Apoquel and high doses of prednisone over the course of several days trying to manage her symptoms. A month later, she contracted viral pneumonia which killed her. He never warned me about side effects or advised me of any further symptoms to w... read more

Have been bringing our pets here for years. They helped with the passing of our cat, and we also have two dogs that we bring in regularly. Unfortunately, the last 4 or 5 times I've been in, the women working have been so rude. We have moved recently, so they're no longer the closest to us. We were considering finding another vet anyway, but I was in today and the attitude of everyone in there confirmed that we will be finding another place to spend our money. Dr. Howard, however, is a gem and we will miss him terribly!

About a year ago I took my new rescue kitten here and was pleased with the clinic for the first few visits. However, now that we hit her 1 year they no longer return my calls. They recommended she come in for an exam at least once a year (standard practice). But after 17 voicemails over the course of three weeks with no call back and no answer during business hours I had to give up and find a new Vet. What if my cat had been ill, what if when we were out of town our pet sitter needed to reach them? I can't in good consci... read more
