I'm currently in rehab, and I can’t express enough how impressed I am with the rehab services department here. If you're looking for a place to regain strength, this place is truly exceptional. Dad was very unhappy with a few nurses and his male PT . He did nothing but complain about how he’s been treated . Also day of discharge nurse did not explain dads meds to me I still don’t know what is what I finally went to his PCP to help. Also his wound care nurses help me with his wounds more then she could. Avalon care Center was not our first choice but we are very appreciative of the services and care they provided for my mom. My mom loved nurses and especially the Physical Therapy Dept. which covers PT, OT, Speech, Recreational and more. Many thanks to them and the nutritionalist who worked in keeping my mom’s meal appetizing even w the strict diet. She improved physically and became more positive mentally. Many thanks!

Initially, there was a wait when i had to call the nurse's aid; but that improved over time. The nurses, doctors, & everyone at the facility were great in taking care of my needs. They all did an exceptional job & I could not be happier.

The entirety of my father staying with Avalon for a few weeks has been nothing but irritation and frustration. I’ve been coming often to check on my father. The nurses are not so great with frequent supervision over patients while there. IE; Clicked red button and CNA takes a real while to get to you. No urgency. I’ve repeatedly mentioned to downgrade the food quality. He was already under MINCED diet, and the dieticians department kept sending him semi-dry, choppy food. Marilyn cannot respond to this inquiry, but I, her husband, will, and in my opinion her care and some of the services there were subpar. My expectations regarding her ability to ambulate herself and do things at home were not met to a certain degree. I was told that she would be released from Avalon's Care on August 7th at 10 am more than a week before that date, however, on the morning of August 7th at 10 am the floor staff had no word that she was going home. The only reason you got one star and not “hated it” was the physical therapists were great. They listened to me and were full of encouragement. The CNAs took time to come, which I understand, but then they came with attitude It seems you were “bothering” them and some unnecessary comments were made, like “stop complaining”and “what do you want”. The facility isn’t as up-to-date as your pictures on website provide. The employees are nice but not very knowledgeable on certain aspects of their job. The air condition was broken or not working properly for 90% of the stay of my mother. The administrator Kaai was very helpful and willing to try to assist in accommodations like, making sure my mother got a bath more than twice a week because that is an absurd thing to only have a shower two times a week.
