My wife has been at Barrington Terrace for 15 months in the Evergreen area. I could say many positive things about the way the building is maintained, the cleanliness, the food, the pleasantness of the staff, but to me there is only one thing that overrides these areas and that is how well my wife is cared for. She receives excellent attention and care. I am kept informed and consulted when changes are necessary. Possible if there is a room closer to community areas. Community fee rather high.
This is the most wonderful place of its kind that I have seen.Inovative,responsive and clean and always smells fresh!
My sister visited it. It wouldn't be active enough. There weren't enough activities, and a lot of the people there seemed to be pretty lethargic. It is only one building, so there wasn't as much there.
Our stay here was short lived unfortunately. Mom moved in with the explanation that she would be a fall risk. Of course we were told this was not a problem. She had several falls inc one while the only staff was washing dishes instead of monitoring. After approximately a month it was strongly suggested (with the hint of or else) to me that it would be a very smart idea to hire a private duty sitter for mom. 8 hrs a day every day should be enough. It's very expensive they almost do to much as its Like a expensive nursing home. There was almost no rehabilitation for mom after knee replacement. They pushed her in wheelchair instead of making her use walker. They wiped her after using toilet. She was totally capable of doing this. But management wanted them to do this. She lost all independence and waited for them to do everything. She has beginning dementia so she has no thoughts on her own uses excuses for everything and she took advantage of this. Imagine you have trusted me with care of your mother and you ask me where she is and I say she is in her room. Then the hospital calls and you call me again and I say "oh my staff said that that they tried to reach you". Then she dies in the hospital and 2 days later you go to see [name removed], the Director of the facility and you ask "where is my mother now?" And she says "She is in the hospital." I felt like they could have been much more communicative and informative during the touring and sales process. If you don't ask questions they won't give you important information, and when it was time to sign the papers I felt like there were a lot of surprise fees that they hadn't mentioned at all until that point. I think it all comes down to the training of their sales staff.
