8/16/24. Restaurant was already out of the cod special at 7 pm on a Friday!?!?!? Coke slaw, fried apples, green beans-all excellent. Grilled catfish-good fish, but excessive pepper. Barely edible. My reason for leaving this review is because of the marked improvement in food and service was so much better than any time I have been there in the past several months to a year. I did take out - as usual - and by far better. They forgot the biscuits, but responded quickly and graciously. The service from the door, through the wait by all the staff seemed so much better and the quality of the food was wonderful.
My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and it was my worst experience at a Cracker Barrel. We got there early and there wasn't much of a crowd. The server forgot my wifes coffee, which isn't a big deal and she quickly got it after she was reminded. The food however was sub par at best. It was entirely too cold for how quick it came out.
The service was good. The food was less than pleasing to the eye. All the blueberries for the pancakes were clumped in the center. The scrambled eggs were dry and looked like powered eggs rather than real eggs. The sausage patties were covered with numerous black flecks from the grill. Not a pleasing plate to the diner.
Knowing it was a holiday, we knew it would be a little busy. However, we booked a reservation online at 11:10 prior to arriving at our meet time of 11:45. We did not get seated until 12:15. We immediately ordered food, knowing it was busy. We did not receive the food until 1:15. By the time we had left, it was around 2pm. The server was overly stressed but was exceptionally nice.
