The Cracker Barrel in Rocky Mount was at a convenient location for our purposes. It was clean and attractive in appearance. The menu was the same as other Cracker Barrel locations and the food was delicious For dinner, we tried the trout dinner and the pancakes and eggs entree. Both were very good. Our waitress was upbeat, friendly and polite. She efficiently took our order and checked in with us several times as our meal progressed. We will stop at this location again when we are in the area.
We are a big fan of Cracker Barrel, whenever we travel, we always check if there is a Cracker Barrel on the way so we can stop over to have dinner or lunch. This location has disappointed us, probably because we arrived at 7pm on a Sunday night. My friend and I were seated at a crowded dark table. I ordered two eggs, hash browns, sausage and wheat toast, also iced tea. Twenty minutes went by until we got our food. The server said she would be back with my toast. I don't understand why it wasn't brought out with my order. There was only one egg on my plate. I waited a couple of minutes for the toast, but started eating because I didn't want my food to get cold. I was very disappointed with the pancakes. The Oreo cream cheese filled ones were just awful. Everything else was fine. I don't think I will be ordering those again. My waitress was very good, she was polite, efficient a joy to be served by. The atmosphere was fine. I never have an issue with the atmosphere.
8/16/24. Restaurant was already out of the cod special at 7 pm on a Friday!?!?!? Coke slaw, fried apples, green beans-all excellent. Grilled catfish-good fish, but excessive pepper. Barely edible. Fried shrimp-badly overcooked. Dark brown and rock hard. Biscuits- OK Cornbread-has a detergent/soap aftertaste. 9/8/24. DO NOT EVER prepay the tip for a to-go order at this Cracker Barrel.
