Found out from the couple at the table next to us that Daniel, our server, was on his first day on the job. Very polite & courteous. Ordered steak dinners since I had enough peg points for a free dinner. My steak was good (some pink), but the other steak was tough & cooked a little too long. This is not a steakhouse & the steaks are thin, so I don't expect the best, but to enjoy it, I recommend asking for medium rare to avoid being overcooked. Louisiana-Style Shrimp Skillet with parmesan bread (good taste, but shrimps were tenderized so not very good) Country pot roast with mashed potatoes and hashbrown casserole (good) Country fried steak with rice and cole slaw (good) Biscuits were not good, bottom half was hard. Nice Cracker Barrel restaurant located in Lancaster, PA right near retail shops and outlets. This is the classic Cracker Barrel atmosphere with the old country store decor and the cool retail store. Overall, the place was decent, but not great. There were some things that weren't so great - for instance, my husband's steak bits were very overcooked, fries were lacking flavor, and my food was a little bit on the colder side. But other than that, the food was pretty good. One of the highlights was the baked apple side, and the casserole. The service was fantastic and prompt for being busy. The chicken fried chicken was exceptional along with the side dishes of baby carrots, mashed potatoes, and fried apples. I would also recommend the new granny smith apple tea that is available for the Fall 2024 season! I recommend this location to anybody who adores Southern fare and a nostalgic, welcoming atmosphere!
