Another takeout lunch that pleased my grandchildren and me. Their new Mozzarella menu items, Chicken Bites, and fries appeal to the young ones if not me. They enjoyed their lunches. Takeout/pickup here for second time. Plusses: Helpful, friendly servers (told me how to save by ordering #1s and substituting Slaw for fries rather than order side of Slaw. New to Schenectady, Dave's Hot Chicken is located at 412 Balltown Road in Mohawk Commons, Niskayuna, NY, right next to Panera Bread. The fast/casual place serves "Nashville-style" hot chicken tenders, sliders in seven spice levels from No Spice to Reaper plus many sides. New place, still very much in the "soft opening" phase--tons of staff in training. We ordered for two people and both meals came out wrong, but since we're eating in, it was an easy fix. Not the best execution yet, but the location is super convenient.

Five Guys is to hamburgers as Dave's Hot Chicken is to...you know the rest. I guess these hot chicken chains are trending now. I wondered what the fuss was about so I tried it. First, don't expect it to be a fast food joint. You order the food, pay the bill, and get a beeper. Wait. And wait. My order took about 20 minutes to be ready. First off, this was my first time coming to this Dave's location after seeing backlash on Albany's location. This location was much more cleaner, everything was restocked and staff were actively cleaning as we ate our food. The bathrooms were also clean -- but very much of smoking smell such as weed. The wait for the food itself wasn't long, and the food itself was good. Food took awhile to be made and came messily packaged. When I got handed my food, the lady at the front seemed dismissive and passive aggressive.
