While suffering with severe back pain for one year, it took five doctors to convince me that I needed back surgery. I chose Dr. Hyder (he did surgery on my son-in-law) and I would recommend him to everyone needing back surgery. Dr. Hyder and Dr. Streeter did my surgery. Dr. Hyder said I would feel at least 50% better. Well, I'm very happy to say that I have NO pain. So I'd say I'm 100% better. Good job, Dr. Hyder!!!
What seems to be a very efficient practice is actually a very slick surgery sales machine.
Dr. Hyder did a cervical fusion January 2021. When I awoke I had pain in right arm as well as it be non functional, ie. I could not find my mouth with my hand. Mike did rounds and said they put the screw in too deep and they would have to do a revision stat. Four days later I was back in surgery. I continued to have pain in my right arm as well as numbness on my hand with loss of strength. After six months with no relief, Dr. Hyder’s response was that I had carpal tunnel and that he could take care of that. I spent another t... read more
I was supposed to have a minor OP surgery decompression. I woke up in ER then in 1 month had to have another surgery to try and fix what he screwed up. The Dr. cleaned it out as best he could .. I was back in ICU, infections and numerous things had to be taken out then I went to rehab because I was getting different IV antibiotics every hour. I worked for about a year then in so much pain had to file for disability. He ruined my life... beware he's surgery crazy.
I went to Dr Hyder with extreme lower back pain. After evaluating my situation he recommended surgery. This was the worst mistake I’ve ever made. I had a long and slow recovery with multiple complications. All of this with little to no communication with Dr. Hyder and his staff. Beware!!!
While hospitalized I met Mike, Dr. Hyder's PA, one of the best PAs I've ever met (says a lot for someone who's volunteered 4+ yrs 40+ hrs/week at Chicago Lurie Cancer Center). His visit was limited due to a scheduled surgery but was thorough in exam, patient in answering questions, A+ bedside manner. No way would I want to undergo a spinal procedure with clotting/diabetic issues by a surgeon who was obviously bothered to spend 2 minutes of his precious time with me. Dr. H, be like Mike!
One year from my surgery I had a one level fusion The first couple of weeks were tough but after completing my therapy and working in my core I felt great My leg pain went away with hours after the surgery and my back pain took a few months I still have mike aches every now and then but I’m 90 percent better nd I’m back to work Back in the gym Got a personal trainer I’ve lost 20 pounds now that I’m able work out after getting my back fixed Hyder is awesome!!!
Dr. hyder was like a car salesman.. before surgery i joked and asked him if he would have me running again.. absolutely he said.. i had l4 l5 FUSED and a lamenectomy at L5 s1 .. one yr later i have more pain than before surgery, i asked him why doc? his answer as he walked out the door was pain management.. every pain specialist knows him and speaks poorly of him. i met a woman who works at his hospital, she said she says hello to him and he just looks down says nothing.. DO NOT USE DR HYDER
After surgery in June, my mother still can't walk without a walker. Her leg is numb and she had terrible pain for many months. Dr Hyder was to put spacers between her vertebrae but put screws and hardware in there instead He did not do what he said he would do before surgery. Not recommended.
