When my mother fractured her hip, I was worried how we would find her the right rehab care quickly. Since we live out of state this was even more complicated. Our experience at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Naples was extremely disappointing and stressful during a time when our family should have been focused on healing and recovery. Rather than feeling like individualized, patient-centered rehabilitation, much of the stay felt like a box-checking exercise. After major surgery, my father spent two weeks here. Despite many good reviews, we are less than impressed with our experience. While the staff was friendly, there was very little communication, especially from his case manager, and at times the staff seemed overwhelmed. It felt necessary to be there all day every day to advocate for him and his needs. Hygiene issues: My dad wasn't given adequate showers or bathed, despite several staff members telling me he had been, including his case worker. The sanitary wrapping was sti... read more
