Stored with Extra Space (previously Tuck-It-Away) for a little over two years while living in a smaller place in Manhattan. The facility itself is perfect, clean and well managed, and I found the pricing fair. Santos, the manager on staff 99% of the time is also WONDERFUL and very easy to work with. I would highly recommend their facility and services.
Only reason I chose one star is cause you cannot choose zero. 1990 Jericho Turnpike is the absolute worst Storage Center. I've been there for 20 years and since Extra Space has taken over the facility has gone completely downhill. The place is absolutely filthy, bathroom is disgusting, the bay doors are covered in dirt. The three guys that work there do nothing but behind a computer. Constantly losing packages because their holding room is an absolute mess. *BEWARE* This company is very shady. They offer you a good rate to start and then a couple months later, without notice, double your storage costs. It's very disheartening to say the least that companies can get away with this practice. My experience was also with a classic narcissistic personality as well that runs this location. Until Extra Space Storage "took over" this facility from Tuck-It-Away (a family-owned company) I was extremely satisfied with the facility and with Santos, the manager. I have stored belongings here for over three years. Tuck-It-Away levied incremental, but reasonable, raises yearly. Extra Space Storage took over in the fall 2017 and just raised my fee $40 A MONTH ! an outrageous gouging!
