I rent here they raise rates every other month. Rats eat and poop on everything. Security cameras are a joke. Management changes every other month. Good luck if you put things you value most here. Better get the best insurance and file a claim.

Call and ask questions, because they definitely don't volunteer any information prior to renting to you. Admin fee of $30? Not the best customer service. Think it's a good deal? Only if you pay 4 months in advance. Would have been nice to have all the info up front instead of being up sold from $93 to $167. I previously posted a review about my friend sustaining damages due to a rat infestation and that the insurance company that Extra Space Storage requires customers to use is worthless in my opinion. By worthless... if a claim is filed, it is ignored. Emily S. responded to my review as the Business Owner and gave her number, which was the phone number of Extra Space Storage. Moved into 2 of their storage areas in May of 2022, at the time they made no mention of having an issue with rodents, in fact told us about their pest control measures etc. Turns out they had / have a rodent issue and a big one. our one unit was over run and we had a great deal of damage to stored items. While i am sure most storage places have some level of problems i believe the unit we had was far above the curve, multiple boxes chewed into, droppings & urine on nearly every box we removed, saw the rats as we were moving ... read more
Mice and roach poop were discovered on my belongings a couple of years into having the unit, along with some items chewed through. Months later, we uncovered faulty insulation install (it was manually taped to the ceiling and hidden when I first moved in) after a flood in the unit caused water damage to my furniture. At first the staff did very little to help with the situation. I cant emphasize more on this .Dont get with this company to store yours stuff for a long period of time.I mean extra space company alltogether .They jack up prises every few months and they trap you.They are the worst ever at this.Trust me on this .Find another storage company unless doing it for a few months .My rent has doubled in 2 years .You think they would wanna look after there long termers but as always I just move somewhere cheaper Who loses they do .Then they bring in someone at deal rate who may not stay long.Dum... read more

We thought this was going to be a good storage company based on the previous ratings. We have renters insurance so we did not buy the extra insurance because our insurance would cover damage done by flood, fire, theft, etc. However, when we went to open the unit recently everything was covered in building waste, dirt, and bugs. The company had done some work on their building and had created an environment where their work dumped this debris into the unit from above. Dishonest people that try to trick you into signing worse deals than advertised. They raise your rates "every 4-6 months" so any good deal will disappear. Go somewhere else! These are bad people!
Dont use the extra space storage in Denbigh Blvd, Newport News. The need to change their name to You Store It We will steal it storage. I stored everything I owned here and it was stolen or destroyed. I truly feel that the people working there played a big part in it. Since they and only myself and my son knew what was being stored. No help from the facility or customer service was offered. Stay far away from these thief's.
