I've been a patient at Family Smiles of the Hudson Valley for over 20 years. I started there when it was the wonderful establishment run by Dr. Gross and Dr. Flores. I have stayed on even after I moved further away (a 30-minute drive) out of some misguided sense of loyalty to the establishment, but I left today. As I was heading out the door for my cleaning, they called me to let me know my appointment had been canceled because I hadn't called back to confirm their text. My appt. was 3 months out, they called and cancelled 4 days before appt., rescheduled again another 3 months, 2 days prior they called, cancelled and I was told at this time they couldn't reschedule me. Are you kidding, so over 6 months waiting for treatment and they pull this. I don't think ethics and professionalism exist today, not like in the past. Good luck to those who use this place.

My wife and I were previous patients of this place and I needed an emergency tooth removal. After calling their emergency call line I received a call from the office and told them about my emergency. She said she would forward it to the Dr./Dentist and call me back. Never got a call. Called emergency line again and she said she would send request for call back again. Never got call. This review is well overdue. I have been a patient of this office for quite some time. I had been seeing Dr. Maibaum and he was absolutely wonderful. The front staff left something to be desired and frequently would not contact me to inform me about any balance I had until I came in, despite my asking several times for them to do so. They would also schedule me an appointment at, say, 3:30, and then confirm for 3:45 - every single time. Really bad experience. I initially went in because my tooth randomly broke in half.. I got a temporary crown and then a permanent crown and as far as I know, that's in okay shape. Then I had a cleaning. I asked to opt out of a fluoride treatment because I know fluoride is toxic and can cause a whole slew of problems. It's already in my toothpaste and mouthwash and I feel that's enough. The hygienist went on to basically degrade me and try to make me feel stupid for not wanting it. Anyway.. Went in for a routine teeth cleaning. This was my first time at this dentist office. They did a free exam after cleaning and said I have a few small cavities. I told them I never felt anything. They said when you feel it it's too late, and urged me to schedule another appointment to fill them. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Dr. Christine Sitler was the dentist from Gross and Flores that filled a cavaity for me at the Main Street Office. After two weeks of severe pain, I returned to the dentist for a follow up. Again, I was sent home- two days later on a holiday weekend, my filling fell out leaving all my nerves exposed, a terribly painful experience!
