Opal and I made the hour trek because we heard Dr Rula was the best for tie revisions. As my girl screamed in pain the entire hour drive I was praying our experience would live up to the hype that led me to this long drive.
I can speak to a few things;
First the staff and assistants are all so calming and kind and genuine. A nurse came into the waiting room while I was waiting just to take a peek at my cute baby. Dr. Rula was so thorough in our conversation about ties, revisions and even so kind as to make sure I was mentally and emotionally ally in a healthy place to move forward with the procedure (and if you’ve had an extremely colic reflux baby that can’t latch you know the struggle and despair and loneliness). To be so kind and thorough to make sure the entire unit (momma and baby) are functioning properly is beyond expectation.
Secondly she was fast with the revision and did such a great job helping an exhausted mom understand the aftercare properly. She even gave me her cell I’m case I needed help.
Thirdly AND THE BEST PART!!! My girl for the first time since birth, 5.5 weeks, fully latched immediately after the procedure. She wasn’t sucking air or thrashing through nursing. She was fussy or gassy afterwards. She fell asleep nursing for the first time. She only cried a little on the drive home and never that gut wrenching scream of pain. She only fussed a little. I was overwhelmed with joyful emotion as she nursed and Dr Rula was so sweet to hang out for a minute with me as I gushed over my joy and she happily shared in that joy for me and continued to remind me it’s going to get better.
Tonight at home our entire family feels like we are seeing a brand new baby. The procedure was such a success and done so well. I know we have some work ahead but for the first time in a month, thanks to this office and Dr. Rula, I have so much joy and hope.
Thank you. Thank you for being humans over time or profit. Thank you for caring. Thank you for adoring my little girl. Thank you for hope.
