Today we put to sleep our amazing 13 year old retriever. Our 8 year old daughter and 16 year old son accompanied me. The vet came out to the car and sit with the kids and actually did it right in our car. He was unable to walk and he was very heavy and we planned to bury him. Moving him caused him pain and distress so the vet kindly came outside to us. He was so sincere and gentle. Not how we wanted it to be, but it helped ease our hearts.
